All About Feed brings you the latest business developments and updates from around the world from May, including Renaissance BioScience filing a patent for advanced RNA delivery tech, Kerry launching its new AlphaGal Ultra multi-enzyme system, and Sustell gaining official GMP+ endorsement for automated feed footprinting. Highlights also range from Danone Morocco’s on-farm investment in portable feed analyzers to Novus International’s recognition for safe chemical rail transport. This and more.
Novus International, which represents the company’s Methionine Business, recently received Union Pacific’s Pinnacle Award for Safely Shipping Hazardous Materials, recognising partners that demonstrate a strong commitment to safely transporting chemicals by rail. Novus transports both raw materials and finished products on Union Pacific rail lines, with Novus-owned railcars moving from manufacturing facilities in Texas to distribution centres throughout the US. This network supports reliability in the company’s supply chain for customers across the US animal agriculture industry.
Kerry has launched AlphaGal Ultra, a multi-enzyme product designed to help animal producers extract more nutritional value from feed by breaking down soy α-galactooligosaccharides and other complex dietary substrates. Available in both dry and liquid formats, the multi-carbohydrase enzyme system is engineered to increase energy availability from feed ingredients while reducing anti-nutritional factors present in soybean meal and other oilseed components. It can be added to premixes, incorporated into mash feeds or applied post-pelleting.
Nutreco has published its 2025 Impact Report, highlighting a 47% reduction in Scope 1 and 2 greenhouse gas emissions compared to its 2018 baseline. The report outlines progress made across its businesses, Skretting and Trouw Nutrition, in areas including climate, animal welfare, circularity and responsible sourcing. Nutreco also reported that 90% of its packaging is now recyclable, reusable or compostable, while its updated RoadMap 2030 will focus on supporting customers with practical sustainability solutions across global food and feed systems.
Renaissance BioScience Corp. has filed a provisional patent application for a yeast-derived, virus-like particle (VLP) technology designed to produce, stabilise, and deliver RNA. While the company previously focused on RNAi-based biopesticides for chewing insects, this smaller-particle VLP platform allows them to expand into fungicides, herbicides, biocontrol for non-chewing pests, and future therapeutic delivery applications for both animal and human health.

Danone Morocco has invested in 10 portable X-NIR analysers from Dinamica Generale to strengthen feed quality monitoring across its dairy supplier network. The handheld system enables technicians and nutritionists to analyse feed directly on-farm in under a minute, supporting faster nutritional decisions and forage quality checks. The analysers can measure key nutritional parameters including dry matter, crude protein, starch, fibre and fat across a range of feed ingredients commonly used in dairy production.
Hendrix Genetics has released a new Sustainability Report outlining how sustainability is integrated across its breeding programmes, operations and partnerships. The report highlights the company’s long-term strategy built around animal care, climate resilience and social entrepreneurship, while also providing greater transparency on topics including greenhouse gas emissions, energy use, circularity and responsible sourcing.
European Protein reported a strong 2025 performance, doubling EBITDA year-on-year despite a challenging market for specialised feed proteins. The Danish fermented protein producer, which supplies solutions for pigs, poultry and aquaculture, said global livestock producers are increasingly seeking tools to improve animal resilience amid rising disease pressure. The company expects continued growth in 2026, supported by capacity expansion in the US and the upcoming commissioning of a new fermentation facility in Malaysia to meet rising global demand.
Sustell, developed by dsm-firmenich, has been endorsed under the GMP+ MI5.7 Feed Life Cycle Assessment standard, strengthening its position as a scalable platform for automated feed footprinting. The system enables full life cycle assessment across the animal protein value chain, integrating major feed formulation systems and ingredient databases to deliver automated, standardised emissions calculations. Sustell supports sustainability reporting, regulatory compliance and decision-making by providing more consistent and scalable environmental impact data.
Animine marks 15 years of innovation and partnership, celebrating with distributors and collaborators in Chamonix and Hoi An to reflect its European roots and early Asian market beginnings. The company specialises in precision trace minerals for animal nutrition. and attributes its growth to scientific rigour, long-term partnerships and a people-centred culture. Rather than broad product lines, Animine has focused on three high-concentration, high-purity products (HiZox, CoRouge and ManGrin).
The winner of the 2025 Novus Award, doctorate candidate Rebecca El Hawat, will present her research during the transition period at the American Dairy Science Association (ADSA) meeting in June. The award, which recognises excellence in dairy research and innovation from those who are just beginning their work in the field, is presented annually at the European Federation of Animal Science (EAAP) annual meeting. Her present research focuses on the role of rumen protozoa in shaping fermentation patterns, methane production, and milk fatty acid composition in dairy cows during the transition period.
