Salmonella continues to be an important cause of disease. Every now and then it emerges from its slumbering state and makes newspaper headlines when food has been contaminated and vulnerable groups become ill. Apart from strict hygiene measures, feeding strategies can also contribute to diminishing salmonella incidents.
