Zinc prevents profit loss from heat stress

Heat stress now costs US swine producers more than US$900 million per year in reproduction and finishing losses, reports Lance Baumgard, Ph.D, associate ?professor, department of animal science, Iowa State University. During the summer of 2012, the US set more than 27,000 new heat-stress records for both daytime and night time temperatures, according to the National Weather Service. Record-high night time temperatures are especially dangerous because pigs experience continuous heat stress witho
