The Russian government is about to increase its domestic aquaculture production from 150,000 tonnes in 2015 to 410,000 tonnes by 2020. This is mainly possible due to the state support of nearly RUB3 billion (US$50 million). The increase in the Russian aquaculture sector is fuelled by the food embargo, introduced by Russia in August 2014.
